UNI Nursing holds White Coat Ceremony

Students that received their white coat officially earn their “rite of passage” into the medical field. It should be celebrated, and is an important symbol of the work they have accomplished already.

Each white coat is embriodered with the Univeristy of Northern Iowa school logo, as well as “Nursing.” The coats are hung over student’s chairs before they are put on.

While UNI’s nursing program is still relatively new, they have made profound moves in becoming a top nursing school in Iowa.

During the ceremony, students typically recite an oath, such as the Hippocratical oath. This is where medical professionals promise to ethically take care of their respective patients.

All of these students will likely continue on to work in the medical field. Receiving their white coat only opens up more doors for those who earn it.
