Aggravated assault reported

At 1:05 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, the UNI Office of Public Safety issued a campus-wide email reporting that an aggravated assault occurred on Friday, Dec. 15, at 11:10 p.m. at the Hillside Apartments. According to the email, the victim reported that he and the two suspects are acquaintances and that the two suspects cut him with a knife during an altercation.
According to the email, an aggravated assault is a fight that occurs between two or more people and involves some type of weapon. The email also included some strategies to minimize the chances of an assault occurring.
The email also stated that the whereabouts of the suspects are unknown. As of press time, their whereabouts are still unknown.
UNI Police and Cedar Falls Police are attempting to locate the suspects, and anyone with information regarding the incident should contact UNI Police at 319-273-2712.
This is the second incident of violence with a weapon near UNI’s campus this academic year. The first incident, which occurred on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 12:45 a.m., involved the shooting of Alex Bullerman, 18, and Dylan Gehrke, 18, both of Waterloo.
According to the Northern Iowan archives, Bullerman died in the hospital of a single gunshot wound. Gehrke was discharged from the hospital later that morning after being treated for a single gunshot wound.
