I am a sophomore majoring in digital media journalism with a minor in psychology. I have been a staff writer since August 2023 and this spring was given the opportunity to step into the role of Campus Life editor. I have a love for writing and have enjoyed the opportunity to share that love through various stories, with my favorite being “College Squared Stilled.” Outside of the NI office, I am a peer mentor for the UNI Learning Center and a buddy for Spectrum project. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends, thrifting, and trying new coffee shops around the Cedar Valley. (I am a coffee fanatic!)

The center will reach beyond campus and serve as a hub of civic education for K-12 educators across the state of Iowa. The center is looking at the possibility of hosting an annual event for teachers, so they can come to campus and hear speakers, do work-shopping activities and learn more about the best practices in the field in terms of civic engagement.

After a renovation in 1984, the College Square Mall was the second largest employer in Cedar Falls. Mayor Danny Laudick hopes the city will be able to better utilize the space by acquiring the mall in the future.

The Tallgrass Prairie Center has played a role in helping preserve prairies as a habitat for many creatures, notably the monarch butterfly. Their efforts include their roadside projects, seed distribution, and collaboration with farmers.

The tallgrass prairie is located behind UNI’s Residence on the Hill (ROTH), and is home to eight acres of trails for students to explore. The prairie celebrated its 50th anniversary of its restoration.
