ANTONIA GOODWIN, Copy Editor
I am a senior majoring in English, with a minor in creative writing as well as a Certificate of Literary Publishing. I worked as a staff writer for the Northern Iowan as a freshman, and started as copy editor in August of 2023.
My publishing experience includes two semesters as an editorial assistant and one as a project manager for the North American Review as well as one year as poetry editor and one year as editor in chief of Inner Weather. I also currently work as a writing coach at The Learning Center in Rod Library.
I adore writing, but my real passion lies in reading and editing. I find joy in learning the rules of writing styles, which is what drew me to my current role as copy editor of the Northern Iowan. Learning the specific, ever-changing, rules of AP Style and finding minute deviations from them in articles aren’t easy tasks, but they’re ones I find fulfilling. I love being in a position to enhance the voices of our incredible staff writers and contribute to the inspiring community of student journalism.
